View Full Version : ANNOUNCEMENT: New EMU Patchmix DSP Application and EMU DAS/Emulator X Driver Patch (ver 1.81)

10-05-2005, 02:01 AM

EMU has just released a major update to both Patchmix and the DAS/Emulator X Driver. The new version is 1.81 and has many major enhancements. It also happens to be standalone, so it can be installed with or without the CD already installed. Here is a link to the latest releases and their descriptions: http://www.emu.com/support/files/download2.asp?Centric=759&Platform=1

FYI: New v1.82 drivers have been available on www.emu.com for two weeks now. You might want to udate your sticky. I tried to PM you Jeremy, but I guess you don't have PM enabled.

The EMU driver has been recently updated to 1.82. The same link will take you to it. This update addresses some performance issues and generally improves functionality.

There is a bug in the latest drivers (not sure if it was in earlier releases as I never used them).

It seems that Windows Mixer will not respond to multimedia controls (i.e. volume changes, mute etc. which are featured on most new keyboards) unless patchmix is set to 48Khz. Can reproduce on all machines.

Could somebody from EMU or Creative take it upon themselves to update the announcements on this forum? In the meantime the 2.0 betas are out, but it would be nice to get some information on how the EMU and Creative cards can be used together -- particularly EMU 1010 with the X-Fi range.

I do not understand why the Patchmix app cannot be installed with the EMU 0404 USB card, although it can be installed (and comes with) the 0404 PCI card, and almost all of your other cards. (I think it comes with all EMU cards, other than 0202 and 0404 USB.)

Why are we USB users left out, from the capabilities included in this app?

For instance, as discussed in another thread, there is no way to record "what you hear" ("stereo mix") on the 0404 USB. The way to do it with other EMU cards, from what I understand, is through the Patchmix app. App not included, and uninstallable, on the USB cards, so no way to record "what you hear".

Are you going to release a firmware and software upgrade SOON, to enable the 0404 USB to use Patchmix?

lol, 2.0 are out for some time now. Someone is negligencing his duties. ;)

btw, maiki... you can't use patchmix with your 0404 usb because it's different hardware. Patchmix is meant to operate hardware that does not exist on you 0404 usb, so to say.

I have a beta version installed right now that is due to expire on the 15th (EMU DSP driver, dated Dec 07/Patchmix DSP Version 2.00.00). Can I just install the 1.81 over the top of this? Or do I have to uninstall the current driver and Patchmix? Thanks.

This "announcement" about 1.81 is over three years old! Version 2.0 is out of beta now .... as you already have the 2.0 beta installed, just download the current version 2.0 and install it over what you have.

I just installed version 2.0 ("EmuPMX_PCApp_L6_2_00_10" that I just downloaded from the site), and yes, it did prompt me that I had a different version already, and would I like to uninstall that one first. I answered, "yes" and proceeded. After installation and reboot, I still got the warning that the version I have will expire on April 15th, 2008, and I can uninstall it then. Was there something else I was supposed to update? Oh wait....I just saw the other download. I bet that's it. Never mindhttp://creativelabs.i.lithium.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif..

This thread is not for E-MU USB audio interfaces.

When are newer drivers going up for windows 7? All the PCI drivers/Patchmix updates are dated May 2008. That's 1.5 years ago, and Windows 7 has been available to developers since spring of this year. Current drivers are unreliable and glitchy, even for the simplest things like MP3 playback. I've almost stopped listening to music over the last few months, as it's so irritating to hear the constant hiccups.
