I have several files of class lectures that I want to pull highlights off. I could do this on my XP machine, but I can't using my new laptop with Vista. It will only record what it picks up through the microphone.
On my VIsta-based laptop, I only have "Follow Mixer Settings" when I try the "Select Recording Source" drop-down menu. On an older version on my XP-based laptop, there are 4 ptions, including "S/PDIF In." This is what permits me to take file that I've recorded and make a recording of a smaller section.
i think it has something to do with a worldwide policy to stop people "stealing" music for personal gain etc. which would explain why there are litterally hundreds of questions on the internet about this subject, and either no response or no valid answer.
even Creative's own online "helpdesk" dodge the issue as if it were a live grenade, by pointing out all the "other" things mediasource can do, which, quiet frankly is practically nothing now.
