Can't let the thread get buried. Would love to get a response from Creative themselves.

    Hm.
    Fix would be nice.
I don't have bsod with my X-Fi Titanium but openal games crash every 10 min with hardware sound enabled.

I have an Audigy 2 ZS and use the Creative driver. to prevent crashing you need to do this for Killing Floor and Red Orchestra 1 (RO2 runs fine because it uses XAudio2):

    - install the latest version of Alchemy
    - add Killing Floor/Red Orchestra to it
    - in the sound settings of the game select the "use system driver" checkbox and set the sound to "H/W 3D + EAX"

this will make the game use the systems default OpenAL library, which then gets processed by Alchemy. If you do not select the "use system driver" checkbox, the game will use its own OpenAL library and cause a system crash.

i hope Creatives driver team will finally get their act together and fix this long standing, well known bug in the drivers, so we don't have to use a workaround like this and have native OpenAL support again.

It is unlikely we will hear something before the new year arrives...
