Re: Creative Device ID Utility - Helps to diagnose device detection errors

    Hi,

    I have a Sound Blaster Z

Windows 10 always recognises it as a Recon3D card though and tries to install the wrong driver from windows update.

    PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0012&SUBSYS_00101102
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_1102&DEV_0011&SUBSYS_11020023

    Thanks,
    David

Did you try to unplug your computer, remove the card, wait a few minutes, put everything back together?

This sometimes works for the old SB Live!/Audigy.

Might work for new cards also as mentioned by jmacguire.

    Adding my card:

    PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0005&SUBSYS_002C1102

In case there is something wrong with new Win 10 drivers for X-Fi.

When start the computer my sound never works, and the SB control panel does not detect the card. I always have to reboot and then card starting to work. Is this normal?

No its not normal but there is massive thread on it, some blame it on SSD's but its the Mobo/Bios to blame.

You can tell as if you turn your speakers up full volume and boot the PC you will hear a horrid noise when Bios posts (well before OS loads so nothing to do with Windows or drivers) and if it does not go away by time its about to boot to Windows the card will not be there.

I started to get same issue on a ZxR on Asus Z87 Rog, its a PIA to get it to be detected but should be ok if you do not re-enter bios (to change settings) or unplug power once its detected, or put PC to sleep as this can make card disappear as well as reappear again.

I normally unpower PC and keep posting the Bios till the horrid sound is gone and if it makes it into Windows without doing so the card will work.

    My set up:

The following Creative devices were detected:

    PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0012&SUBSYS_00331102
