Headphone port stopped working after Windows 10 forced a driver update

    Hi,

My headphone port stopped working all of a sudden after Windows 10 automatically updated the "Sound Blaster Audio Controller" to version 6.0.105.8, dated 19/06/2017.

There are more reports of the same thing happening at http://www.overclock.net/t/1337761/o...ries-club/5310

    Hi threepwood,

For the time being you may want to temporarily stop Windows from updating drivers automatically, uninstall the driver using Programs and Features and reinstall the driver again.

According to this post, the user has solved his problem. Meanwhile, you can contact Creative support to inform about the issue.

****, same problem here, just noticed since I haven't switched to headphones since the updates, Sound Blaster Z here.

EDIT: OK, rolled back to the previous driver, restarted and all works fine now.

So a month passed, just checked: same driver - same problem... Are you guys planning on fixing that?

    Hi Barabadorx,

According to the developers, the issue was caused by an upload of the wrong file to the Windows driver server. The wrong file has been removed last week. Windows should no longer update the driver of the Sound Blaster Z with a driver that is not working properly.

Well, like I said, according to my computer this update is still available:

And still makes my headphones dead when switching to Headphones mode:

Finally, using the Roll Back Driver option on Sound Blaster Audio Controller to 6.0.103.34 and restarting everything works fine in Headphones mode.

I confirm what Barabadorx is reporting.

As can be seen on the Windows Update catalog, the faulty driver (6.0.105.8) is still available:

    Hi threepwood,

Although the driver with version 6.0.105.8 is still available on the Microsoft Update Catalog, the driver version 6.0.103.34 was updated at a date later than the driver with version 6.0.103.34.

    1. What?

    2. The point is that your broken driver version 6.0.105.8 is still avaliable as an update from both 6.0.103.34 and 6.0.102.50

Fix it or remove it from Windows base for ****s sake!
