    Soundblaster ZxR audio issues

    Hi all,

I've got a new ZxR in my Windows 10 (with Fall update) PC.
The sound disappears/becomes cracky/popping after a few minutes.

I've tried reverting to the SBZxR_CD_L13_1_01_01.exe driver version which made no difference.
Is there anything else I can try?

This is my first SB card (always used on-board audio), it's likely to be my last as I can see numerous issues with the ZxR on this forum. (Or is my card duff?)

    Many thanks
    Paul

I forgot to add that I disabled Windows Update so the newer driver would not replace the SBZxR_CD_L13_1_01_01.exe version.
I've also seen that Windows will set the S/PDIF as the default output device. Putting this back to the ZxR will restore the audio (sometimes...)

Driver SBZxR_CD_L13_1_01_05 (23.02.2017) is fine. . Try update motherboard bios or change PCI-E slot..
What motherboard do you have ?

It's worse with the 05 drivers. I have a rampage IV extreme. I've moved the card to a x4 slot. No change

Also running the latest BIOS for the Rampage IV.

    Hi Paul,

May I know how are your speakers or headphones connected to the sound card?

I have read the "ASUS Exclusive Boot Features ROG" online manual.

You may want to try to set "CSM (Compatibility Support Module)" to "Enabled", then you set "Boot from Storage Devices [Legacy OpROM first]" and "Boot from PCIe/PCI Expansion Devices [Legacy OpROM first]".

    Hi

    I've got a Logitech Z906 5.1 surround sound system.

I have not read the ASUS Features ROG document. I don't have a problem with the ZxR not being detected on boot up, it's always there.

    Hi paulas99,

I was thinking maybe the setting of "Compatibility Support Module" can help to reduce compatibility issues with the Sound Blaster ZxR even though it can be detected on boot.

Are you speakers connected using the analog connections?

It is connected to analogue. Generally, it seems the drivers are making the S/PDIF the default output device, if I make the ZxR the default output device, it works (mostly.)
