Re: new design?

Not bad, but going to take some getting used too.  The colors look nice, like a darker version of slashdot.org.  Only problem I have now is the red, it doesn't go well with the rest of the forums.  And the 'kudo's' rating system, some silly new-fangled marketing/sales thing which I don't care for much.

Carlobee,

Thanks for starting a thread on the new forums, any constructive feedback would be appreciated.

Penguinking3,

Well, kudos are a way for users to give approval to content that they think is helpful, well formed, insightful, or otherwise generally valuable in the community. It's not rolled out for the intention of marketing/sales.

So when you give kudos to a message, you are not only offering a thumbs up for good content, but also a pat on the back to its author. :smileyhappy:

Which is the same as the 5 star ranking we previsously had, with the exception that you can't rank posts poorly.  It is just the naming of it and the implitation (can only upvote) which seems like some idea from marketing department, it doesn't add anything, removes features that the preveous iteration had, and has a 'hip' sounding name.  Perhapse I am just getting old, but I like the classic 5 star rankings.

But what annoys me the most is that it is a big red box to the side of the post with your kudos count.  The forums are all nice, cool blue/green colors, then you have a big red box distracing you from the text.  While I also find that all the big red buttons (such as reply) are a bit distracting, those buttons arn't constantly next to every post.  Perhapse you could change the colors of the buttons or send my comments to the ones with the power to do so?  Thanks.

Edit: Also, I don't know if this was by intent, but there is no way to un-kudo if you accidenlty press the button.

Re: new design?

Only real complaint here is that everything is too small. Had to bump up the zoom for the forum a notch or two in Firefox.

Penguinking3,

You can un-kudo the post if you accidently press the button. Just go to the message which you want to remove your kudos.
Choose Options > Revoke My Kudos from this Message.

Re: new design?

I see, you got to reload the page before it can work.  I was hoping/looking for some fancy scripting or something that many web 2.0 sites (such as reddit.com) have where you can just click again to revoke your kudos.

personally, i do not have a problem with the new design including its colors.also, with regard to the font size, it's very much tolerable. Kudos also to the "Kudos System". overall, i do like the new system and design here. As you said, it just takes time to get used to it. :smileywink:

Re: new design?

I think the forum has changed maybe a couple of times since I joined. It just takes a little getting used to. How does the Kudo button work? It looks like you can only say you liked a post but otherwise can't rate it?
