Re: HS-1200 Strange background noise

I purchased the HS-1200 yesterday (March 7). I use it with Ventrilo for gameplay communication. Others on the line reported to me a noise they described as whistling or maybe like an audio tape rewinding as it has a slight flutter to it. I downloaded the newest March 3 patch mentioned in this thread, but it did not help. Has anyone found a solution for this yet? Did the patch help this issue for some?

The patch seems to address volume more than this noise per the patch notes, but I see a reference to audio "distortion".

◦Audio distortion when microphone monitoring and X-Fi™ CMSS®-3D are enabled.

I tried disabling the X-Fi CMSS in the Creative volume panel, but this did not seem to have any effect.

I really like the wireless, I would hate to take the headset back, but this is not acceptable.

System:

Windows XP SP-3

Re: HS-1200 Strange backround noise

Well after much decision I decided to sell them on. Updated driver doesn't do a thing, the mics on this headset are defective :S.

They all need recalling and revising.

Creative will no longer be an option for me as they clearly don't care about the clients they sell to or the "products" to or make. I contacted the support team and they want me to pay for shipping to have them "fix" this issue (send me a different broken one), unless they make an effort to contact each and everyone of you with a real fix I think I will be seeking out some new options for this problem. They refer to as isolated it's not you all and I'm shure may of the over 1000 viewers of this topic have the same problem. It's wrong the way the treated this serious problem and they refuse to even acknowledge that there ever was a real issue with the headset, I spent my hard earned money on. This is sicking to me the way creative deals with their mistakes and I wont let them scam me again with other broken product (all of them).

I'm still open to a REAL fix that will cost me nothing as I have already wasted months and over $100 on the product I fail to see why you wont fix YOUR broken products. to the rest of you if you want a fix I recommend contacting the BBB and trying to get people the the consumerist.com involved in this mess to make it public as this is not the only head set effected by their shorty work.

I want to thank you all for the support and I hope we can get this resolved.

Re: HS-1200 Strange backround noise

I purchaced the HS1200 for wireless but was getting static and backround noise that i could not get rid of. The main communication program I was useing is Teamspeak.

No driver update or hotfix helped.

I ended up Switching from direct sound to Wave

All backround noise disappeared and device worked great. Hope this helps.

Re: HS-1200 Strange backround noise

The Change in teamspeak is in Setting/Options  there is a radial button to choose.
