Media Explorer Doesn't Work With Win 7

New PC - upgraded from Vista to Win 7 - install of Media Explorer was successful - PC/Win7 recognized Zen V Plus ... BUT when I try to start Media Explorer, it gets an error for EXPLORER.exe that says: This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action ...

Is there some special setting for Win 7?

Everythingt worked without a problem on XP.

Where did you get the Media Explorer file from & what version was it?? Also you don't need it or any other Creative software to organize the player WMP12 can do all of that.

Re: Media Explorer Doesn't Work With Win 7

I just upgraded to Windows 7 (Home Premium edition), and have noticed that I no longer have to use the Zen Media Explorer, because Windows Media Player 11 has been improved.  In fact, WMP 11 now recognizes AAC (iTunes) files, which is great because my whole library is in AAC format.  Transferring these files to my Zen is a simple matter of dragging and dropping to the Sync window.

Oops, sorry--I read the original post too quickly and didn't realize that you have a Zen V Plus.  Well, for what it's worth, WMP 11 works well with the Zen.

Re: Media Explorer Doesn't Work With Win 7

Thank y'all

Think I've mislead everyone - PC has mislead  me too. Let me explain:

When I installed the Media Explorer (which I understand is not needed with WMP 12) it reguired me to connect my player to complete the install ... which I did and the install completed. But now I'm not sure my player was really connected..

Using my daughter's laptop (has XP) - when my player is connected (to USB) the player powers up, then connects. On my desktop (with Win 7, 64 Bit) the player does not power on when attached ... and doesn't connect if I manually pwr on.

Thr firwmware version is: 1.32.01e (I see on Creative Support  that the latest is 1.32.01 ... is that a newer version than what I have - ref the .01e?}

Tried other USB 'ports' - no joy. Other devices work on that USB 'port' anyway.

Any suggestions?  I understand other players work on Win 7

Ok your player is not connecting to Windows. The first thing to try is boot the player into recovery/rescue mode & do a Cleanup>Reboot. NOTHING ELSE then connect to the computer using a REAR usb port (desktop) or direst usb port (laptop) NO HUBS.http://forums.creative.com/t5/MP3-Players/How-do-I-access-Rescue-Mode-Recovery-Mode-on-my-player/td-...

The CleanuP & reboor did the trick. WMP 12 is great - like it better than Creative's Mediaq Player.

Re: Media Explorer Doesn't Work With Win 7

Happy to hear you got it working again. I personally do 99% of my player organizing with WMP (on Vista). You will find when you use more than one program to sync to the player you may need to do a cleanup>reboot for it to be recognized. Not always though. I can tell you that is does confuse the player as to what is already on the player. I suggest that you have the settings for sync  set to manual so you can choose what goes on it.

What's the best way of organising playlists? I've got a couple of big ones set up on Media Explorer that I can't access on my new Windows 7 laptop.
