The end of Plays For Sure?

Sorry for the alarmist title, but this article raised my eyebrows a bit.

Why would Microsoft NOT add Plays For Sure to its own player?  See link:

I saw this too, to me it looks like MS is going to dump Plays for Sure (the MTP protocol). I'm sure there will still be support in Vista for MTP devices, but it looks like Microsoft is just going to get rid of it.
This is speculation, but you wonder why Microsoft themselves wouldn't include this in the Zune.

Does that mean we might see a firmware update for the Zen V that will allow drive letter (mass storage)access?
