when i press the lock button and leave it locked long enough that the screen switches off but keeping music playing, can i unlock it? i've been trying but i had to press the reset button. But when i lock it and the screen is still on, i can unlock it by simply pressing the lock button! Can i unlock?

Tap the screen whilst the player is locked, this will bring up a screen with the clock and an icon that you drag out of the bottom of the screen, the player is then unlocked, but you have to tap the screen again, this will brong the play controls up.
Creative Jukebox 10GB, Zen Micro 5GB silver, Zen 16gb with 8gb SDHC card, Ultimate Ears Super-fi pro 5's, X Fi PC, Dissapointing Zen X-fi 2 16gb.

that seems like an issue with the player already. normally, it doesn't have to be that way.

Im getting the same issue here im actually on my second XFI2, first one battery died within first week. got a new xfi2 now but it still suffers from the lock issue.
What i hate is it doesnt matter if its auto or manual lock, it still locks the player out until the album is played out and idle switch off will get it. This player definatley requires another firmware update.
Whats even worse is i have to use the player without lock and so the screen doesnt switch the backlight light off which will eventually lead to a burn in.

second xfi2, version 1.01.01

Hi Zen-Dusty,
Do you have an estimate of how long you leave the player locked before this issue occurs?

This occurs since the screen switch off. After that it seems impossible to interact with it.

Thanks Julestex.
For the rest of the folks, can I confirm that this is the same for everyone?
