Hello!
I recently formatted my PC. Now I want to use my Audigy 2 ZS with Windows XP SP3 again. I downloaded "Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series Driver" and installed it. Installation was fine and I have sound. The problem is that there is no software. I remember that the las time I installed it I had EAX Console, Mixer, etc. All those application where I can configure my soundcard.
Where can I find it?
Regards T3rm1

I was told by Creative support (I've spoken to both email and phone support people) that I should NOT install the software from the CD since the new drivers (2.18) were not compatible with it. They said that the new drivers contain the new "Creative Audio Console" which contains the EAX panel, CMSS panel, speaker settings, etc., and that the old "Creative Mixer" and all of the other adjustment software was no longer used (the regular windows audio adjustment panel was now used.) I was FINALLY able to get the new drivers to work by uninstalling EVERYTHING (inlcuding using CTZAP) and installing JUST the new drivers, but a ton of stuff is now missing, such as the Graphic EQ, the THX panel, the speaker distance and calibration settings and noise tests, the diagonostics, etc. The speaker calibration now contains no test tone capabilities, and lists the surround speakers as channel numbers rather than as actual speaker location names. Now I can't even tell if things are hooked up right since I have no idea where "channel 5" is supposed to be.
My question is: How is this an improvement? All the settings and adjustment capabilities are suddenely radically truncated. Is this really correct? Am I supposed to install "some" of the stuff off the CD? If so, which items should I install, and which items are incompatible with the 2.18 drivers?
Thanks,
Larry

It took many attempts to get it working.
1. The Install CD didn't recognized my OEM version of the Audigy 2 ZS, however, I went into each folder on the CD manually, and ran each of the setups. I didn't realize it workd, because Digital Out was the default an the OEM card doesn't have the port, so I assumed it wasn't working.
2. I tried KXProject. That worked, but had some majorly complex ways of doing things.
3. (more like step 103) Removed the card, Re-boot 2 X. Then attach the card. I loaded the drivers from the web from 2005 or 2006
Then, loaded all the programs from the indiv folders like in step 1.
I use the SB A2 ZS for home music projects, mainly for MIDI to use for programming Drum Tracks to jam to, or for songs to record.
The card can load 2 X 96MB of samples into Synth A & B via Soundfont Band Manager
The card can Record 24/96.
The audio output (analog) is so sweet. Never sounder that good. I use headphones mainly.
I fiddles around with EAX, but it can color the sound a bit with the FX.
I prefer to listen to music "as is"
But, when I record, I use VST FX on specific instruments, which applies reverb, delay, etc to the instrument I want, not Globally
4. There is a series of updates available. I did all except for the driver itself. All the other supporting programs are enhanced in some way, and my setup is stable minus the newest driver installed. which I read is nothing but trouble.
Drop a line if you have any questions, or anything to discsuss. My setup is on my home PC, and I don't have Net.

The key appears to be to install ONLY the new drivers if you want to use them. This was what Creative support told me to do, and it "worked" in that the errors went away. Of course, so did a lot of the cool adjustment features. If you want to install the newest drivers, you have to uninstall EVERYTHING from the CD install -- all the software as well as the drivers (including using CTZAP just to be thorough), and THEN install the new drivers. Creative support also told me NOT to use the "Auto Update" system.
I did this and as I said it did "work." The only issue is that you don't get ANY of the additional software or adjustment features -- the THX panel, the graphic EQ, etc. In other words, if you want the latest fixes that the new drivers include, some of which will be necessary for certain games, you have to give up all the extra software and adjustment features. You still have basic adjustments via the new Creative Audio Console, but things like test noise for channel calibration, distance and angle compensation, etc. will be missing.
The one thing I'm still not clear about is whether some of these features will be added with new drivers. Creative says that "new drivers are on the way, but it's unclear if they will (or even if they "can") add some of these features back. I asked this in my tech support correspondence, but they haven't responded to this particular question yet.
