Dolby Digital Live Pack for Audigy 3.00.01 "Setup is unable to detect..." fix

Finally I found the reason of a problem.

This Fix is for Audigy 4 owners who can't install Dolby Digital Live Pack for Audigy (getting "Setup is unable to detect a supported product..." message).

Start DDL Pack for Audigy. After you see an error message find temporary location of extracted setup files (on Vista it is usually C:\Windows\Temp\CRF00x. The location can be easily found using Windows task Manager. To do it find "Installation Wizard" under Applications tab, then right click on it, select "Go to process". Tight click on it (setup.exe), select "Properties". Find "Location". Voila.

Copy extracted setup files (for example CRF001) to any location (for example c:\).

Exit installer.

Replace existing CRF001\Support.Cab file with fixed one.

Start installer (CRF001\setup.exe).

The problem is Creative omitted one important "[" in "WebDrv.ini". The line wrong line is:

Hardware.Map10]

and it should be:

[Hardware.Map10]

This causes installer can't detect Sound Blaster Audigy 4.
Fixed Support.Cab was rebuilt using fixed WebDrv.ini.

Shame on you, Creative.

Fixed download: Audigy_DDL_Pack_3_00_01_Fix.zip

This fix is not a complete DDL for Audigy installer! It contains only fixed file which is required to install legally bought software!

That's awesome cineq. I bet that was a hard bug to find.

Anyone at Creative notice this thread?

It may be worth submitting on the developer forums.

I say "may be" because "maybe" somebody will actually read it.

Maybe Creative can give cineq a 100% rebate on his purchase since he did the debugging job for you :smileyhappy:

I'm glad I helped some of you. Reagrding rebate - I've already bought DDL Pack, so not possible.

Happy DDL-ing :-)

I said "rebate" as in money-back check or credit-card refund... :smileyhappy:

Anyway, good job for the find. And Creative this time did a good job too in releasing the fix (albeit a simple one) so quick.
