MICROPHONE HELP! please?

Hello,.... I dont even know what to ask or type in so..... here it goes
I have a Creative SB X-Fi sound card(Creative X-Fi Audio Processor (WDM).. whatever that means. My headset is a Zalman Theatre 6m plus a microphone, 6 speaker headphone.. anyways... The microphone is in the optical jack. It works on my laptop just fine. I am running Vista 64bit. I do have onboard sound.. um crap i dunno... give me some questions so i can answer please. I need help! heh

Hi,
Are you trying to get the microphone to work with the X-Fi sound card?
Post up more details like what is the model of the sound card so that others can advise.
PS: Moved this to the Sound Blaster board as this seems to be more of a sound card issue.

It is an Creative Labs X-Fi ExtremeGamer. It has 4 jacks, but the mic jack is optical..... Even worse when i load Age of Conan Sound plays during intro, then when i get into the game there is none at all... All other games work just fine. I am trying to get the mic to work with this soundcard.... which it should .....
