I just installed the retail of Windows 7 and installed all the creative drivers and applications update said I needed. I noticed that there is an On Screen Display setting. I know a while ago in XP, the OSD would display logos based on the technology used or a volume display. I made sure it was turned on and on the screen but nothing shows up.
Anyone get it to work?

I use the software from my microsoft from my Digital Media Pro 3000 for Windows 7. I get an onscreen display, and it has NEVER interfered with my games or anything else. It does control the volume of the Creative applications because if you raise or lower the volume the faux volume panel in Console Launcher moves for master volume as well.
The software for the older Creative cards will not work the same in Windows 7 at all, so I would give up hope on that. Daniel K.'s software packages for Xp, Vista, and Windows 7 are your best bet for that as they are fairly current, can be updated at anytime with newer Creative apps and is a one stop shop for your downloading purposes.
Lastly Creative Entertainment Center that was included with some cards with you give you onscreen display as well.

The Creative Entertainment Center 5.10.16 ( X-Fi Surround 5.1 version) is fully compatible with Windows7 and you can download it from creative website...
To enable the installation on your X-Fi, Audigy 2/4 and other SoundBlaster USB/PCI cards - simply follow instructions below.
- With WinRAR (or similar) extract the Entertainment Center 5.10.16 to a new folder (e.g. C:\EXTRACT).
- And then add (overwrite) with this file into same folder.
- Execute SETUP.EXE to begin installation - follow on-screen instructions.
I tested it succesfully... The remote control works great and the OSD icons are back! (DTS/DD popups, Volume panel,...)

Thanks for the link. I downloaded EC 5.10.16 as you said, extracted it to a folder, then replaced the support.cab file in that folder and ran setup.exe
Installation went fine. Restarted.
However my "On screen Display" link is now broken, and when I try running the new vesion of EC, it keeps opening firefox telling me that I need to upgrade to the latest flash version. I already had the latest flash but I followed the link anyways... still nothing.

So maybe I spoke too soon. I just re-ran the installation, restarted and it works 99% fine now! I actually get the OSD. In fact, one could argue it worked 110%...
For whatever rason, the OSD of what ever technology I am using shows up twice, stacked up ontop of each other. Durp. Any idea on THAT one? I really shouldn't be complaining since 6 years after vista came out and owned my creative card, I finally have it working the way I want!
But yeah, any idea why there are two?

You are correct - the second one you posted that shows the technology being used. That is what I finally got to work by following you instructions... but now I get 2 of them! Picture what you have with the DD Bitstream logo, but put another logo vertically on top of that so you see two logos, one vertically ontop of the other.

wow... that's surely a strange behaviour! ![]()
I see that the application of OSD calls this shortcut:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Creative\Shared Files\Module Loader\DLLML.exe" -1 PanelSvcSettings "C:\Program Files (x86)\Creative\Shared Files\Module Loader\OSD\PanelSvc.dll"
but I've sincerely no idea why you obtain 2 pictures at same time...

Ill see if this works. I dont think this site allows remote hosting of images...
Nope, doesnt. Oh well, as long as the OSD works I'm happy. Just really weird why it stacks 2 of them!
