Hello, I am using Windows 7 build 7600 and the following driver file: USB_W7DRVBETA_US_1_01_0092.exe
The thing is that this happened on Vista Business SP1 also. However, it only happened when I used the Creative Update program to update the driver to the latest version.
When I used the driver that came on the CD all was good, I didn't experience choppy sound.
I don't know the cause of these annoying sounds however I do observe that the choppy sound starts when a Windows sound is played (error, etc.) but that's not the general rule.
So I tried using the original driver on the CD on Windows 7 using the Compatibility wizard but with no luck. Subwoofer didn't worked for me neither 5.1 mode.
I use a 6720s HP Compaq laptop. I can record the behavior if that would help.
Let me know if you experience the same stuff or know a possible solution for this annoying issue.
Thank you.

Just installed the latest driver USB_PCDRVBETA_US_1_01_0097.exe
I still hear the same choppy sound and pops in my speakers. For example when I am typing in a text box (website, messenger, etc.) and I am right at the start and If I hit the backspace button I hear the annoying pop. If I turn on winamp (direct sound with hardware acceleration enabled) and do that backspace again that sound dissapears and all is fine.
I checked DxDiag and it says the following:
The file ksaud.sys is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer.
Anything else I could do to solve this ? It is annoying because the pops start to be heard randomly sometimes.

I've been having the same problem with mine. At first, all it would take is unplug the laptop end of the USB, wait a second, then plug it back in. A sound (incoming mail, reminder, general Windows sound) had to initiate the sound. It's almost like a CD skipping, but the sound played has no bearing on the popping sound. It's always the same pitch, timing, etc. no matter the sound that caused it.
I've blue screened a couple of times too over the past couple of weeks. I've only been able to catch 'USB' during the blue screen before it reboots, so I don't have a code number to chase down.
I'm using Windows Vista Premium Edition on a Gateway laptop that's about two years old. I'm being lazy, and not looking, but I'm pretty sure it's got a 1.6GHz DualCore proc, I upped the RAM to 2GB, I had to replace the HDD and I honestly don't recall the brand.
It's gotten to the point now that even unplugging and then replugging doesn't really affect it anymore. I know that I've updated the driver a couple of times. The first time Vista whined about it. Going to see if there's a more current version, but I don't really have any further help or suggestions.
Hopefully something will come up.
