I'm just curious what configurations are you using and what did you do to make the problem suddenly come back? I've been using this fix and so far it's been perfect! Could it be that you updated some new drivers such as a graphic card driver which somehow affected your system?

Hi Jedimind06,
Can you post up your system specifications as well as the steps to replicate this static noise?

The beta driver works great for me. Before, I was unable to use anything above 16 bit 48000 Hz sample rate without generating alot of static in games (only happened when SLI was enabled in Vista. Never had a problem in XP, though.) Now I'm able to run any sample rate and I'm able to finally use DDL without the annoyance of static.
Thanks for the fix! Better late than never!
Specs: Asus Striker II Extreme (790i Ultra), GTX280's in SLI, 8 gigs DDR3, X-fi Titanium, Vista 64/XP pro.

OS Vista 32
CPU Q9550@3,64Ghz
MB EVGA 790i Ultra SLI.
4 Gb DDR3 Patriot
2X GTX 280.
All I did was to update the sound card driver, using the new fix. Everything was fine till one day when the static noise just came back... Same drivers, same OS, same hardware. Last night I've reinstalled de soundcard driver and it's ok most of the time. But seems that the problem reappears and it's annoying. Right now I'm using the Titanium X-Fi with the digital output. The static noise it's more annoying when using the digital output, especially in games. Didn't tryied the X-fi Fatality Xtreme Gamer with the new beta driver yet.

I tried many different versions of drivers (including the latest beta) but still have the static noise (it comes and goes randomly).
BTW
I have an X-Fi Plat. Fatal1ty Champ, with a single GF8800 Ultra, Q6600, IP35 Pro, 2Gx4 RAMs and Vista Ultimate x64 SP1.

Hi guys, my first post.
I had an Asus Striker II Extreme. When I updated the the audio drv. I had to follow these steps, otherwise I had problems similar those of jedimind06.
- unistalled audio drv - unistalled video drv. - passed Drivesweeper - installed audio drv. - installed video drv. (nvidia)
I used only speakers of lcd monitor or headphone.
Bye mOTP

Latest beta drv. 2.17.07 works very well. Even Crysis Warhead is better. ( I use only headphone or lcd speakers).

just bought a PCI Express X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Series card a few days ago and it seems the drivers are still fail after a year or so of owning a x-fi xtreme gamer card. i am getting the random static sounds even with this brand new card and latest drivers. really sad these bugs are still around... ill be sending this card back to the store and going back to onboard sound again. my xgamer got tossed due to it never getting fixed. not gonna get stuck with another door stop.
os: vista x64
mobo: evga x58
vid: evga 260 ftw
ram: 6g corsair dominator tri-channel
psu: 1200w thermaltake psu
good luck to those that stick it out.
