X-FI MUSIC AND SPEAKER RECOGNITION PROBLEM

I am hoping somebody can help as I am going mad with this problem.

I replaced my Audigy 2 ZS yesterday for an X-Fi Music.  My setup is as follows:

MSI K8N NEO NF3 PLATINUM
AMD 64 3500
2GB CRUCIAL DDR 400
X800 PRO

CREATIVE 5.1 5700 decoder + speakers

I used to run the digital din from the Audigy to the Creative decoder and it was not a problem.  It picked up the 5.1 set up and never missed a trick.

I followed the same procedure with the X-Fi after removing the ZS. I cleaned out the drivers etc, loaded up the X-Fi drivers and was presented with the speaker config splash screen.

On the digital speaker selection it only offered me HEADPHONES, or 2.1 SPEAKERS. I chose 2.1 as it was the closest to my 5.1 setup and I thought I could alter it in the setup later on.

To cut along story short, I get 5.1 fed through the 2 front speakers.  I cannot tell the X-Fi that I have a Creative decoder - speakers and I'm stuck!

Please can somebody advise me what I can do as I'm getting desperate.

Thanks

Re: X-FI MUSIC AND SPEAKER RECOGNITION PROBLEM

same thing here with my FPS2000 Digital 4.1 and X-Fi Platinum!
Can only choose 2.1 at most :smileysad:

REALLY BAD :smileysad:

PS: and besides that we get NO x64 drivers and BAD sound problems/noises (popping) when computer is under stress (encoding e.g.). I never thought to get so many bugs after shelling out a considerable amount of money for a home/non-pro soundcard! I use this one for gaming and entertainment, and i will certainly not start using it for pro audio/music work, keeping that with the awesome Digi001!! (different spectrum i know... but i wanted to use this X-Fi for some simple, light music production... don't think i'll do that!)

oh well... :smileysad:

That's just crazy isn't it?  There must be some solution / other people with similar problems with this stupid set up. The ZS worked perfectly so I'm currently having that slow uncoiling cold sweat of a bad buy coming on.....

Same Problem with x-fi Platinum and Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700. At setup i could only choose 2.1 Speaker system. Later i can switch to 5.1 but the test signal from rear left and rear right are on the right and left front speakers. I connect to the speaker system with mini din. I hope there is a fast solution.

Well at least its not just me.  Why the hell don't these companies test products prior to release? I hope they issue a fix fast as I'm not a happy customer.

Thanks all for your feedback so far!

oh well... wait and see... just not good enough for me! really bad impression of creative atm!! technology ain't everything! what good is a technology with a bunch of bugs and bad support?? :S

Support answered, that X-FI in combination with speakers DTT3500 and 5700 supports only stereo signals!

bad message!

Re: X-FI MUSIC AND SPEAKER RECOGNITION PROBLEM

You've gotta be kidding me!!!

I spend more money to get a good set of DIGITAL speakers (4.1 in my case) and then i spend even more money to get the top-notch X-Fi Platinum... both made by the same company (or from companies on the same group/enterprise) and by the end of the day, they tell me I can't use the best feat out of THEIR product because of an incompability (that is no more than misattention... since i don't believe it takes that much work to allow 4.1+ out through the Digital Output - it was supported by older models) between THEIR products???

This is WAY too bad to be true!

PS: I don't really believe that anyone at support even knows anything about the tech aspects of this problem. They just fill in the blanks and send you the answer in the manual :S

Let's REALLY hope someone on the Dev area reads this! (they should...)

cheers,
~Levi
