Re: G500 power problem

Yes,I have read them several times and I have noted the proposed solutions.I respect your post and am happy that you are getting some use from your unit, however ,I think the point I was getting at went right by you. You see,I am 67 years of age and have always felt ok about giving value for value received. In this case as well of hundreds of other case's as well,Creative has in reality sold a knowingly defective product, and took peoples hard earned money and then have taken a hands off attitude ie. in your face. Now you might be content with having to do a questionable patch job on something you paid good money for,but this old country boy don't appreciate it at all and I feel as though Creative Labs should be held accountable for their deceitful business practice and not accepting the responsibility for their blatant neglect to back their product. I have an electrical engineer who can remedy the problem in the proper way and I will not have to worry about a fire or other damage to my expensive systems which I custom build for my music and video work.. Now,with all due respect, please read what I have said and think about it a day or so ,and then see if you are still willing to pay good money to someone who could care less about you,and then fix the faulty product they hooked you with and then tell the how wonderful the product is. I find something wrong with your logic, but again that is your priviledge...

Re: G500 power problem

My G500 after almost 2 years, it decide not to work rite after I un_hook them to  re_arrange my work space then hooked backing. Turn on the sw., there is a green indicator "on" , hook front channel satellite speakers and paly some music, nothing output. I check my audio card by hooking the headfone to it, the headphone work just fine. So from PC out to Audio card 100% sure there is a signal out all the way to the Subwoofer. For some reason I do't have any sound to speakers at all.

is any1 have similar issue please help me how to trouble shoot and fix it.

Re: G500 power problem

Sir I find nothing wrong with your logic.

Creative has offered to replace my defective 5.1  G500 with a 2.1 GigaWorks T3.

Not acceptable.  I am still looking for a replacement for the defective Dong Woo relay.

Re: G500 power problem

On my situation, I got power LED green light "ON" , check the fuse still good. hooked the wired remote to it and I can turn On/off the remote no problem. but I can not get any sound out to speakers at all.

Is my issue similar to the power problem and I have to replace the Dong Woo relay?

Please help ppl

Re: G500 power problem

Hi,

Just want to let anyone that is having the same problem as me to know that you are not alone.

I've been using my G500 for the pass 2 years. No problem until recently where it will "trip" when I'm using it. Once it 'trip', i can hear the relay activating and the green LED at the back of the subwoofer will go off.  I turn off the power, and the relay will 'de-activate' in about 3 seconds later and cause the LED to light up again for a second before going off again. I presume this happens because the inductors in the power board is still keeping the current flowing for a few seconds after the power is turned off.

So, after reading and searching on the net for a day or two, i found this site. I total agree that the relay is the problem. As its been 2 years since i purchase the product, there is no longer any warranty. so, out comes the back cover. Looking at all the glue really puts me off for the replacement solution. So i opted for the magnet solution.

Now my speakers is working and hopefully for a long long long time after this.

If you are going for the magnet solution, please get Neodymium magnets. Previous posts by other members contains links to magnets. The link will lead to a N42 grade magnet. As I'm staying in South East asia and shipping from UK a piece of magnet is just to expensive, I settled for a N35 grade magnet by "The Magnet Source" which i bought from a local hardware shop (Home Fix).

Hope that this is helpful.
