Windows 7 and THX in Creative Console Launcher, Game Mode

I wasn't yet able to find mention of this, but if it's out there, please point the way.

In Vista x64, the game mode of the Creative Console Launcher had a section where you could adjust the distance and angle of your speakers so that the sound field was correct (THX logo present, too). In W7 x64, though, I've not been able to find this section anymore, and the THX logo has vanished from the console. I've reinstalled the drivers a number of different ways (for example, as administrator) but there's no change.

Anyone suggest a reason for this?

I have an SB X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion Series card and have installed the latest W7 drivers and console from the Creative site (the Autoupdater states that there is nothing newer nor anything left to install).

The drivers themsleves don;t have any of the extra applications, use Daniel K's support pack to get back all the extra stuff.  I am using Win 7 Pro and the support worked fine, the only thing I did when installing was to not install the driver portion of the support pack keeping the Win 7 ones.

As I know, the THX cannot be downloaded but it is on the X-Fi Installation CD for Windows Vista  and it can be installed in Windows 7 64 bit too. (This CD can be purchased separately and I bought it last year from Creative.)

After installing the 2.18.0013 driver, I installed the applications from this installation CD and then updated the programmes with Creative Autupdate. My Console Launcher has the THX logo on it and it can be set by starting the THX Console or in the game mode of Creative Console Launcher too.

I'm definitely checking out Daniel K's support pack (downloading now). That sounds like it's exactly what I need, and I'll follow your advice on the drivers (and then update components separately). Updating doesn't re-break the console, I take it?

As each item is installed through the setup, it checks for any existing program.  If it finds one it will check whether the program already installed is older or newer than the one being installed.  You will then be given an option box asking what you want to do.

Yep, I understand that part (it's already installed and works great). What I meant was whether installing new releases in the future for the different components would break the newly fixed components (like the THX settings in the console)? Or would I always have to use a pack like this?

Not sure, but at the rate in which Creative releases drivers I don't think we will have to worry about that for quite a while.

True!

Thanks again for the tip about Daniel K's pack. It was perfect for what I needed fixed.
