windows 7 64 bit shut down issues with X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion Series

The same as the rest of you I have installed windows 7 64 bit,  sorry if some has posted this before I did not see it.

I have discovered shortly after install my PC was not shutting down and hanging, but after some looking and a lot of time restarting using msconfig I found the problem to be creative.

It seems to be creative audio service which seems to be connected to the encoder in the entertainment console giving you Dolby and dts as long as you do not turn it on you can include creative audio service in services and start up, my PC shuts down fine now.

I have also noticed the update manager does not work properly and allows a lot of other updates that have not been given windows 7 updates to be included.

A few days ago I manually checked for updates while trying to short my issues I found quite few and they all said windows 7

sound front 3.21.01, midi 1.11.01, diagnostics 5.11.02, media source 5.26.02, plus driver 217 and console 261 but today when checking for more updates manually only 217 and 216  come up the others are not there and when I did find them they did not say windows 7 in details. I am sure they had said before windows 7

I hope anyone can use this and I hope creative sort the other driver out sooooooon..... .

So which option do I need to disable to be able to restart and shutdown Windows 7 properly?

Bazzjedi,

Does the issue happened after installing the 2.17.0007 driver? Please check your PM.

I have the same problem with X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro on Windows 7.  If I enable DTS connect encoding then Windows 7 hangs on Shutdown.  This is with the 2.17.0007 driver, device manager shows version 6.0.1.1347, date 7/13/2009.

I emailed customer support about this issue and I received a reply indicating that I should install DDL/DTS on a supported OS.  DTS connect works fine (if I set playback device to speakers, not sure why since it's using SPDIF optical jack), the hang seems like a problem with the Creative driver.   I just bought the card for a new system with Windows 7, if it is not supported then I'll return it.

Re: windows 7 64 bit shut down issues with X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion Series

Hi Loi CL,

I reinstalled drivers first  but when I enabled encoder I had to reinstall 217 and Audio processor [WDM] 32.7 mb windows up-date again. WDM showed up again as not installed.

system configuaration, start up selecton went back to normal start up by it self after this.

I do get some hizzing in between audio tracks when loading screen etc on games and multiplayer if that makes sence not had that before I think is to do with encoder all other options are on in game mode and entertainment.

I tried your FTP server link I just get timed out after entering name and password I am using firefox

hope this has helped

Is there a newer driver for the Windows 7 shutdown hang with DTS encoding enabled?

Also, is it normal that I have to select "Speakers" as the playback device when DTS encoding is enabled in order to get sound through SPDIF?  This doesn't seem right to me.   When DTS encoding is disabled, I get sound with playback device as "SPDIF" as expected.  I've reinstalled the 2.17.0007 driver several times and I always have this behavior.

Re: windows 7 64 bit shut down issues with X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion Series

Hi sjlabuda,

I have not checked just lately for updates I hope they sort it out soon I did not realise when posting there would so many others with same problem...

I have checked my creative sound audio control panel and my THX set up, THX I have auto detect 5.1 speaker config and works fine on test, I manly use headphones and it seems to be ok changes to headphoes when plugged in on front panel. except for hissing during loading sequences on games-multiplayer other wise sound seems fine in game.

on audio panel my SPDIF I/O is off and encoder is off I have not tried to connect SPDIF I/O yet.  All other areas are on

CMSS 3D, XFI crystalizer, headphone detection, SVM

If you find out anymore let us know

hope this helps
