BSOD (CTAUD2K.SYS) Installing\Uninstalling Drivers X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Vista x32

Has anyone else had this problem of Vista crashing when trying to install or uninstall the Creative x86 Vista drivers? This problem does not occur for me in Vista x64 only x86. I'm seriously frustrated since the error I'm getting seems only related to Win XP when I searched Google. Trying to install .006 drivers from the Creative site when halfway through I get the BSOD pointing to CTAUD2K.SYS as the culprit. After I reboot and try to uninstall them I get the same BSOD. CTAUD2K.SYS is also used for the Audigy drivers in XP\2000 from what I've read online. Are these simply Win XP drivers marked as Vista? Should I give the modded Daniel K drivers a shot even though there's no reason as far as functionality goes? It would be a very sad day if those drivers turned out to be more stable. Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Maybe try the Dell version of CTAUD2K.SYS?
