Known issues:

  • To configure your speakers, you can use only "Audio Devices and Sound Themes" in Control Panel.
Note: 6.1 speaker mode is not available in this download.
  • Disabling and enabling your audio card in Device Manager causes an error message to appear and stops audio output. To resolve this, restart your computer.

  • X-Fi CMSS®-3D features are not available in this download.
  • Recording features are not available in this download.

Lovely, should this get my full X-Fi capabilities on the second Vista beta? (Beta 2) or am I still stuck with a £260 ornamant? Well done either way lol.

Re: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi series Vista Beta Driver 2.10.0000 (12 Jul 06)

The driver is working with Vista 5456, though I had to disable integrity check and uap to get them installed. I'm having 5.1 sound, but CMSS does not work.

Working Apps:

Creative Diagnostics
THX Console
Audio Console
Karaoke Player
Mode Switcher
Volume Panel
Wave Studio

NOT Working:

Console Launcher
Smart Recorder

Tested with:

Vista 5456 64-bit
X-Fi Xtreme Music

Installation on build 5456 went smooth although I had to swap to the audio console installation page which is launches as a seperate process (why?) to be able to click on next to confirm the installtion path.

5.1 works but I cannot use it to expand stereo. The console cannot be launched! It states that the device supporting this program is not detected. All other goodies are not supported/present.

Main obeservation is that only multchannel playback is added and better line connection possibilites.
What I am missing is communication about what has been done/achieved which issues are still open etc.
CL please look at what nVidia communicates about a new driver release. Sometimes over more then 80 pages!!

Anyway keep this going and increase your pace as well as better communication. Nobody is asking for support we just want to be informed that's all.

Edit 13-7.
Re-installed the driver without changing anything to Vista's security settings. Seems that the audio control panel is working now and all settings are available and work!

I have to come back on my first observation, so it is time to just state "GOOD JOB CL WITH THIS DRIVER!"

Cat - you might want to change the description on the forum here and on the download page. It looks like you copied/pasted the original beta's info - which is an old build number. The driver clearly states upon install which two builds are supported. Just figured this would help clear up confusion. Sometimes people don't look at driver release date - they look at what is supported...

Also - just FYI for whomever is reading - 32bit vista works perfect with the exception of a sound hiccup upon first sounding windows - it just cuts out half way through the login sound. After that - everything works amazingly. I think it works better in vista 32 than in XP 32 :smileyhappy:

Hmm, the info I posted was just a cut and paste from the Downloads page, but I will pass on that feedback, gleep.

Hi, have been waiting on the sidelines watching these forums for news of a driver. Got it installed now but for some reason i only get sound from the centre channel and sub. If i move the connections around on the card the channel changes (obviously) so it's something to do with the card rather than my speakers (Creative Gigaworks 750).

Anyone got any idea what's wrong?

Oh, and is it just me that much prefers the "new" audio-console with it's back to basics interface compared to that over stylized thing that was used in XP?

EDIT: Appears that it is only the right hand output that is working, I.E. the back of the card looks like this:

___1__ 2_3_4_5
\*****/ O O O O

and it's output 4 that gives any sound. 5 has currently got my soundcards input in it allthough i haven't got that working in vista yet. Anyone know what's up?

Re: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi series Vista Beta Driver 2.10.0000 (12 Jul 06)

Can anyone verify that 5.1 hardware support is present for games? BF2, Doom3 engine, or any other 3d app?

The previous drive reverts to software mode.

If I can watch movies and play games in Vista (with moderate success), I'll be blissfully happy until release.

Re: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi series Vista Beta Driver 2.10.0000 (12 Jul 06)

Hehe, well that was a good debut to the forums! Turns out I needed to set the control panel option in windows to 7.1 rather than just in the Creative Audio Console. In addition, the connections appear to be swapped over compared to what they were in XP, allthough that might just be my memory playing tricks on me.

Oh well, if someone else had the same problem this might help them :smileyhappy:
