Re: Lord of the Rings Online OpenAL crashes under Vista x64

Yep, it hasn't been fixed, just look at LOTRO forum, there is a new thread about it. I still can't understand why neither Creative nor Turbine have been able to reproduce the problem, it was sooo easy to get the crash with a hunter class character (5 minutes max). My X-Fi is still collecting dust in a box, with the Xonar I can play LOTRO with full hardware acceleration and no problems at all. Good luck guys, I really hope it will get fixed some day, but I'm afraid it won't be anytime soon...

Apparently there is a driver from Windows Update for the X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro that is working:

Nah. That's a BS actually. There is a driver for titanium cards from MS Autoupdate for Windows Vista and Windows 7 and I've tried it. It BSOD's. I can't post on american lotro forums cause I am with European Codemasters account. There's also topic on Euro forums about that issue. But the discussion came nowhere :smileysad: http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=321881

Re: Lord of the Rings Online OpenAL crashes under Vista x64

Last version of drivers and last version of Lotro => this is still not working.

I have bought an Auzentech X-Fi Forte card to play to Lotro.

And the sound is amazing........before the BSOD.

I chose a card with an creative processor because I supposed drivers will be OK for Vista and Seven....and because Lotro support it. Now I'm discovering this isn't working since the begining...

If Creative or Turbine are not able to fix it...why buying an XFi Card ? Why should my friends buy some card too ?

Please provide us a fix....

Hey! I've made it! :smileyvery-happy: I was able to run it switching LOTRO to DirectSound and using alchemy :smileyvery-happy:

Yep. Unfortunately the downside of that workaround is that you loose all your custom outputs (like digital out). Also sometimes ingame voice chat system isn't working. It's not a problem for me as my guild uses teamspeak for communication but I understand this could be a real problem who use ingame voice chat often (i.e. in EM raids). :smileysad:

That's temporary half-working solution and we steel need a fix :smileysad:
