First of all, the bad news in this topic is that even if you enable 5.1 SURROUND SYSTEM in Vista,you will not

enjoy EAX in your games because-simply-microsoft remove D3D sound from vista which EAX engin depend

on it..

BTW, let's start...
1- Download Driver from this link : http://asia.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?searchString=SBXF_PCDVT_LB_2_13_0012.exe
 which is the last X-fi series driver for Vista
2-DON'T INSTALL AUTOMATICLY.. WAIT
 right click and choose : extract to SBXF_PCDVT_LB_2_13_0012 (WINRAR must installed befor on your

system).
3-You can unistall the old driver or ubdate it for the creative sound card 5.1
4-let's updat driver :
   A-from device manager click on creative and shoose update driver software
   B-select : browse my computer for driver software
   C-select : let's me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
   D-click on HAVE DISK and browse to the path where SBXF_PCDVT_LB_2_13_0012 extract to
   E- select the file :\SBXF_PCDVT_LB_2_13_0012\Drivers\wdm\wdma_emu
   F-click NEXT, it will take 2-3 mint to install the driver
   G-reboot your PC
5-then test the the speaker configuration, you will find 5.1 !!!!!
6-for perfect results select the format (16bit,44100 Hz -CD Quality), found it in : speakers

properties\advanced
7-Enjoy 5.1 .....  but NO EAX

Thanks you very much, I will try it on my SB Live Platinum 5.1 & will post my experience here, currently i m using KX drivers, as mentioned in other thread, to make my card detected for old xp creative drivers, but in that i cant use front Live Drive, so i only used Kx drivers. But still my microphone is not working.

Hi!

I have a Live 5.1 card and I have managed to install this driver but the sound is totally distorted!!

I am using now the NGO modded Drivers and the sound is ok but I can't passthrough ac3 or output 5.1

Try uninstal any old driver and do the procedures from the begining

You are saying that it works for you with a Live! 5.1 card?

I have tried a dozen times, removed all of the drivers,  It Installs the driver but the sound is heavily distorted

I have the same problems as The Tool with this driver. I have a Soundblaster Live 5.1 Digital OEM card, and my sound gets distorted, even if I try a completely new driver install, with all the old drivers removed.

thanks Hussam, i know u'r trying to help.

the guys are right, i even had a blue screen while installing the driver and pc crash! immagine, i havent see that since RD RAM times..

anyway i have a destortion more that sound.

i swap to NGO Drivers, and sound still not good. best results was using KX drivers, but even so, it's NOT the SB LIVE sound w're used for.

for me, if creative will not support us at least working driver, no problem anymore. i have already installed dual boot, i can log from XP when i want to.

for vista, i am using now the onboard sound, it work perfect 5.1 (no opto! but..) and on 24bit 192KHz sampling rate...

i'll wait couple of month, and buy real PRO card this time, best if i find USB2 (hard to find PRO+USB) as i have 10 USB slot on this MB; DQ965GF original + 2.6Ghz core 2 duo.

if you open the file (\SBXF_PCDVT_LB_2_13_0012\Drivers\wdm\wdma_emu) in notpad you will find :

[Creative]
; EMU10K1 chip (SBLive!, APS)
%EMU10K1.DeviceDesc%=EMU10K1_Device,PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0002&CC_040100
; Audigy, Audigy 2

i.e. it can hold the SB live series

try it from the beginig and remember ... don't automaticlliy install first extract it to folder and do't click on setup.exe to avoid blue screen thats appeare with me when I click on setup icon ..
