Re: The Extigy

The money is probably all going on R&D they only have so much to
go around even if they are the largest they do have some competition,
Yamaha have been slowly creeping up on them lately particularly in
professional studio sound. The cuts have to be made somewhere and
you guessed it the support for slightly older products is most likely getting
the hit. I remember the adverts in the mags for the Extigy and I am very
supprised they are cutting support, unbelievable.

I also own a paper weight previously known as the Sound Blaster Extigy since upgrading to Vista.

Extreme disappointment on two fronts including Vista's apparrent incompatibility with most things Non Microsoft and Creative for not supporting a Card prior to its functional and technical redundancy.

Oh to have a restore point that takes me back to XP and supported Digital Sound through the Extigy.

Sorry Creative, with this experience, I can't say I will be an avid follower of your future products.

Re: The Extigy

I am wondering if the profit they will make by not making drivers will be bigger than the customers they will lose...

Re: The Extigy

I think that the Extigy should be made an exception and that support
should be kept going for this product. Although I own a different
Creative product the Extigy was and still is for those who have not
upgraded to Vista a favorite both with semi and fully professional
sound engineers, this makes the Extigy a special case in my book
and three years support is not adequate for a product that was
essentially orientated at professionals and true sound enthusiasts.

Re: The Extigy

I personaly am no longer a Creative user. I started back i the late 80's and early 90's when creative was the standard when setting up a game back in those days.

Had they thaught of making a new software package that would make it work in Vista I would be willing to pay for that, I am not willing to pay for a new sound card from creative at their high prices when I can find a cheaper other brand that can be somewhat close to extigy in some ways.

I have been with creative for so long and am so let down, I took a label maker and made a new name for my paper weight, "extinct". since the Extigy is extinct also is my future intent to buy their latest.

Heck, use this as a comparison. Ford kept the Mustang and incorperated some of its past, Chevy dropped the Camero and Impala, the impala is back and is nothing and the camero is in the works for a return and I bet it will be nothing. Creative is taking the Chevy approach, so more people will become more interested in going for the mustang and sales will drop and special rebates will be offered And In The End, it would have been cheaper to work with whats good instead of trying to creat new items and sales incentives ect.

I am tired, Loosing extigy is like loosing a close friend.........

Add me to the list of another useless Extigy owner under Vista. I understand the product is four years old, but I just don't see justifying buying a newer product that isn't really going to sound much if at all better than what I already have (24bit, 96khz) only because the manufacture refuses to update their drivers. Dropping support for it is their way of forcing people to spend more money buying one of their newer cards and I'm not falling for it. I'm never going to buy another Creative product. For now I'll just use it externally without the usb. Any hope for a 3rd party driver possibly?

Re: The Extigy

Hi, i'm another one in the list, i really love this card.. UNDER WINDOWS XP, im not getting the sound stuttering in vista, but it's making my rear, center and subwoofer useless, in vista i have the wonderful stereo sound, oh and without EAX, thank you very much CREATIVE, i mean, for making drivers for my friend's Audigy, i don't use this sound card for making money or working on it, but i think we paid for this to use it THE WAY is meant to be! for sound? i guess...? games, movies....? music???? otherwise we could just use the sh1t that comes with our motherboards, you guys (CREATIVE) are getting like the big companies (like EA) first, you made a good product, then we bought it, then we were satisfied, then we TRUST you, then you start making cr@p to rise your money with our TRUST, so, basically, this is a THANK YOU.

Re: The Extigy

When I rang support, the guy told me there were no drivers and I asked him when one would be made. He said that if there was enough demand then they would consider taking the time out to help their customers. (Ok, so I re-worded the last bit of the sentence)

So maybe a driver will be created if we, the Extigy users put forward the request. Would anyone be interested in signing a petition? That might be a way to go...

Cheers

Re: The Extigy

PEtions wont make a difference but i thing creative should develop some drivers when they finish with their latest models drivers.

Re: The Extigy

Even though petitions or request are no avail, I really want to say something.

I am a old creative customer, and I bought extigy when I have a Windows XP, I like extigy except the driver support.
Extigy driver support is too bad, but I always lump it since it just a sound card, and it works fine, I also had a plan to buy a new creative soundcard.

But these days, when I know I cannot using my Extigy on Vista, I really disappoint and don't want to buy any Creative's product, I AFRAID I CANNOT USE THESE in next windows version and creative make me feel bad.
