Windows Vista X64 4GB Ram & X-FI Drivers

I am about to install windows vista x64 edition and was wondering what drivers i should use. I saw at the download/support section of the creative site they offer a download of 2.15.0002 drivers but i am not sure if that incorporates all the applications and software ? The CD that came with mine does not include vista drivers bc i purchased the card when it first came out. Also i read othe ppls threads about 4gb memory horror stories ??
What drivers should i use ?
Thanks

Re: Windows Vista X64 4GB Ram & X-FI Drivers

Well i loaded the drivers i asked about within windows vista x64 and was startled by a loud hiss as soon as the card initialized. I read up here on various fixes by using different driver packs and what not, but i am confused as whats the best solution.
At the moment the only thing i have found that works is disabling the card restarting and then enabling it ? What are users doing to fix this and whats creative's take on this ? Any release dates for a fix ?

I would very much like an answer to this too as i also have vista 64 with 4gbs of ram and get a constant hissing sound. I dont hear any other sound than the hissing. What can i do to get sound in vista? i have a x-fi extremegamer card.

Re: Windows Vista X64 4GB Ram & X-FI Drivers

I have the same problem. I have tried everything. Moved the card to a different slot. Uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. Tried BIOS settings. You name it, I tried it. Every damned time I start the computer the hissing fires up. I have to go into the Device Manager and disable the card then re-enable it. Sometimes I have to reboot. It is one serious pain in the you-know-what.

I have faithfully bought every generation of Creative sound cards ever since they were making cards for the ISA bus. But unless they come up with a driver that works with this I am going to switch to a different manufacturer. This non-working driver is 4 freakin months old and there hasn't been a single revision since. That's rediculous.

I'm going to give Creative one more month to get this fixed. If they haven't made a workable driver by then, I'm going elswhere for an audio solution and won't be looking back.

Ah, i didnt realise inactivating and then activating the x-fi would bring sound. I tried it and it worked. Still annoying but its better than no sound at all.

Don't use the application cd, instead download audio console 2.49 to make adjustments to the sound card (equalizer, bass redirection, etc). It should be listed in the same page you download the drivers from.

The only thing i have been able to get remotely working is the modded auzentech drivers here posted by Daniel. Its really annoying that creative as big as they are can get this to work..

Re: Windows Vista X64 4GB Ram & X-FI Drivers

Same issue here, hissing on startup in vista64bit, disabling/re-enabling the X-Fi driver usually fixes it, but sometimes i have to disable, reboot, and re-enable.  It was intermittant, but now seems to happen every boot when the driver is enabled.  Really anoying.

The card sits on IRQ21, which is not shared, but shares memory/IO with the PCI bus which i guess is correct as that is where it lives.

I dont see the audio console mentioned above to download from the driver page - i am using the one that got installed with the SBXF_PCDVT_LB_2_15_0002.exe package, file version suggests it's product v V2.0.0, file version 1.0.7.

Config:
ABIT AW9D-max (audiomax disabled)
Xi-Fi Extreme Music
Core2duo 6600
Nvidia 8800GTX
4GB RAM
Vista Ultimate 64bit
Inspire T7900 7.1 speakers

I have XP also loaded on this machine as dual boot - boot into XP, XiFi works fine.

A fix would be really appreciated.  I am considering taking this Xi-Fi out and using the Abit AudioMax daughercard, which would be a shame.

Re: Windows Vista X64 4GB Ram & X-FI Drivers

Ok, just bought 4GB of ram. No hissing on my Asus P5N-E, booted first time. Also this board is notorious from what I read on the web to not handling 4GB.

This is on Vista64, thought i would provide some feedback.
