Yes .. this probem exists...
Have a titanium card and os vista 64 .. gts video card.... 6 gb ram..
Statis is appalling to the point where it is unusable. It's chinese water torture having to listen to static 7 hours a day... it's terrible..
I have recently purchased my machine from dell..
The tech came onsite ... I showed him this site.. he called dell and for about 2 hours they tried a few things .. swapping position of the boards... swapping cables.... etc etc.... finally they used the onboard sound and took the card out ... and viola no static... the card is the issue or the drivers for it..
So what now.. well they are going to try another card and then ill either return the whole machine to them... or if im in a good mood ill ask them to "downgrade" the card to something that works... it will be soon in a dell quality issue report ... so if they aren;t selling any cards .. we will hopefully get a solution...
Sorry for this creative .. well not really sorry .. your card just isn't working on my computer .. the best money can buy from dell...

more to add on this..
so two new cards came out with my trusty techician today
we tried another titanium .. still static
we tried another type of creative card ( not sure of the model ) still the same deal
we used the creative drivers ( latest version ) rather than the ones that came from dell ..still same issue
we disconnected the tv card..
we reduced ram to 2gb
we unplugged the logitech mx 518
we unplugged the logitech gaming g15
we unplugged the phone near the computer
still the same issue..
so what is left nvdia gts 260 1780gb card to be swapped?
something wrong on the bus
some electricty issue
headphones ( work fine on another pc but maybe compatibility issue )
sound card on different bus
power supply in pc
motherboard
hard drive
anyway im going to hassle dell... as i pay them to build a compatible machine....im not the qa department.. but there is some issue with the card some compatibility issues with something....would like creative to assist in advising people where to look .. rather than doing the shotgun approach

more to add...
of course my usb headphones that dodge the card seem to work fine.. but that defeats the purpose of having the card in the first place

I have done tech support for years. I also had several other people take a look at this. I have xp 32 and have tried it on both vista 32 and 64 bit. I oddly do not get this issue in windows 7. That makes me think it is a driver issue. Since if my hardware doesn't change but i change from xp 32 to windows 7 64bit and it works fine thats a driver issue plain and simple. To be honest it is an interaction between the ground and the mic in so somewhere in the drivers there is a miscommunication between these two and the ground is being allowed to transfer back to the mic line. So what you are actually recieving is the noise created by the video card on the pci express lane. With this being said i hope someone from the driver dept has the brains to fix it cause i really dont want to have to crack uopen creative's drivers and attempt to fix it myself.

I thought that the Creative drivers for Vista and Serven are the same. They are not?!
Or do you think Microsoft changed something in the audio stack so the problem is not fixed but simply does not appear on Seven?
